Make an Investment in Your Career - And Yourself

Since its inception in 2002, Scholars Institute has been providing high-achieving accounting and finance students with a competitive edge. As part of our two-day residency program, we provide interactive programming that helps students identify their goals and gives them the essential tools to reach them. And not only does Scholars Institute supplement classroom education, it also provides the opportunity to make connections with fellow students, CPAs, human resource personnel and NJSCPA staff – your future resources!

Today, Scholars Institute has an exclusive alumni class of just more than 700 individuals who have gone on to become CPAs with the Big Four, regional accounting firms and major corporations. Become a member of this elite club.

Sponsored by New Jersey’s largest and most respected public accounting firms, Scholars Institute gives you the opportunity to spend two days with leading CPAs and human resource personnel in a relaxed environment.

What's In It For Me?

  • A fun-filled program where you can meet with other accounting students and leading CPAs in a relaxed atmosphere.

  • Jump-start your career and get an edge on the competition as you learn the secrets of effective communication, the power of body language, how to put your resume ahead of the others, and more.

  • As a scholarship recipient, student member or future member, make the connections and realize the benefits that come from a community of 15,000 members. Discover the value of the NJSCPA:

    • Build relationships that can help you establish and advance your career
    • Spotlight your talents at high-profile professional events
    • Receive discounts on CPA prep courses
    • Keep your finger on the pulse of Accounting

Am I Eligible?

The program is available to top accounting students. To be eligible to participate, each student must:

  • Be a NJSCPA scholarship recipient

OR

  • If a student does not meet the above requirement but maintains a 3.2 GPA or above, he/she must apply for entrance into the program by submitting a transcript, resume and letter of recommendation from an accounting professor along with their application. Students will be notified by mail if they are chosen to participate.

Submission of the application form does not mean automatic acceptance into the program.

Video Highlights from the
2011 Scholars Institute

"I wanted to thank you for the wonderful opportunity that the NJSCPA gave me with the Scholars Institute. I cannot explain to you how grateful I am and how much I learned. I had no idea how many different opportunities there were for CPAs in the work force. I learned all about public vs. private firms, auditing, taxing, forensic accounting and so much more. After this weekend I am really looking forward to working closely with the NJSCPA and hopefully one day giving back to the Society what they gave me this weekend."
