So far in 2013, more than 43 million people have self-prepared and e-filed their tax returns from home, an increase of more than 4 percent compared to the prior year.

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has adopted the 2013 U.S. GAAP Financial Reporting Taxonomy, which contains updates for accounting standards and other improvements to the official Taxonomy previously in use by SEC issuers.

The proposal aims to improve the quality and comparability of financial reporting by providing greater transparency about leverage, the assets an organization uses in its operations and the risks to which it is exposed from entering into leasing transactions.
